Friends and family of a young British aid volunteer are in shock after she died of malaria while working at a primary school in Kenya — despite taking medication to ward off the disease.
Christi Kelly, 21, known as Belle to her friends, was teaching dance and helping in the kitchens at the school in Siaya in the west of the country when she fell ill last weekend. She was taken to a hospital in the capital, Nairobi, but doctors were unable to save her and she died the following day.
